AberVeg food-give-away stall report

On 25th February, AberVeg did a free food give-away on the high-street. Despite freezing cold wind straight off the sea, it was a good day with plenty of food, lots of leaflets and fairly good passer-by interest (shame about the weather!). We even got the local paper's interest with pictures in the Cambrian News (will scan in ASAP!). (pictures forthcoming as soon as I get the floppy disk from the person who took the pictures!)

The AberVeg stall was the first event organised by our new local group and although we took a long time planning it - the general consensus was that it was a success and encouraged us to plan new events meals , raffles and parties and helped us unite as a group. We got local council permission for a covered stall to be installed on a Saturday on the main street of Aberystwyth at the busiest intersection. A covered stall was rented from the farmer's market and we supplied gas-cookers and gloves for cooking. We pinned posters on the stall for the healthfood outlets where the foods we were offering are available, and advertising our group to attract newcomers. Food was supplied by members, the three healthfood outlets in town and in particular a very warm thank you to Zedzfoods, BoojaBooja and Fry's for their more-than-generous contributions. We also had a leaflet table covered in information leaflets from the Vegan Society, the Vegetarian Society and Viva encompassing all matters dietary, ethical and recipes, food companies leaflets, AberVeg leaflets and local outlet leaflets. We even had a fundraising "Bear" for Animal
